While there are many ways that family trauma and the associated drama can show up in our lives, this episode is going to touch specifically on the adoption experience and social media engagement. I have recently learned some things about the expectations within an adoption community that left me a bit wobbly and confused. Specifically, is it allowable to hold space for both the ugly and beautiful parts of our experiences simultaneously? Or are we expected to pick a side and stand firmly there? If my perspective differs vastly from others, does that make me wrong? As humans, we spend a lot of time expecting others to share our perspectives and to behave exactly as we would. This important topic is multifaceted and complex – like life.
